The play at summer league affords itself to highlights you wouldn’t typically see in an NBA regular season game. Such was the case in Portland’s 91-76 victory versus the Hawks on Tuesday afternoon.
There was Will Barton catching Atlanta point guard Dennis Shroder slipping while tying his shoe, resulting in a steal and layup for in a play that would have been right at home on a playground in Barton’s native Baltimore.
Then there was Thomas Robinson getting a steal and finding Barton on the break. Rather than take it to the rack himself, Barton lobbed a between-the-legs pass to his regular second-unit running buddy for the slam in transition.
Robinson would then pay Barton’s kindness forward by slinging a pass to a streaking Meyers Leonard for another thunderous dunk that capped off a series of entertaining plays.
