Trail Blazers Break In Postseason Sneakers At Practice

The Trail Blazers held their final practice a their facility in Tualatin before leaving for Houston for Game 1 of the first-round playoff series versus the Rockets on Sunday. It was also one of the last chances for players to break in new sneakers in time for Game 1, and many took that opportunity. Check out some of the new models and colorways the Trail Blazers might be wearing come Easter Sunday in Houston …

First up, LaMarcus Aldridge in a new red-heavy colorway of his “L-Smooth” Nike Hyperposites. A nice utility colorway that can be worn with Portland’s black road unis, the alternate red unis or the home white unis.

This is Damian Lillard in a road colorway of the Adidas CrazyQuick2. Lillard has already said he’s going to wear a player edition grey colorway of this model during the playoffs. He also wore a version of these in the 2014 All-Star Game.

Nicolas Batum rarely changes sneakers during the season, often wearing his game shoes until they nearly fall apart. But for the playoffs, Batum is breaking out his red and black colorway of the adidas Crazy Fast 2. The color changing effect of the three stripes on the upper promoted Will Barton to remark that “When Nico hit a three, Skittles are going to fly out of his shoes.”

And speaking of Barton, he was sporting a new pair of Under Armour Micro G Charge Volt lows (I think, Under Armours are a bit hard to pin down sometimes). The photo doesn’t do justice to the detail on these, which I’m blaming on Thomas Robinson’s interference.

And finally we come to Joel Freeland, who, after wearing Hyperdunks, Hyperfuse and Hyperrevs this season, has finally found what he calls “the most comfortable sneaker I’ve ever worn” in the Nike Zoom Soldier VII (aka, the LeBrons that LeBron actually wears). Freeland had been peeling the LeBron logo off of these, but I guess there’s no time for such things when preparing for the playoffs. Meyers Leonard has switched to the Zoom Soldier VII as well.
