During a recent meeting with members of the local media, Trail Blazers team president Chris McGowan mentioned that confusingly-named The Game restaurant at the Rose Quarter would soon be replaced with a new eatery with a more “Portland” feel to it. That new restaurant, which has been named “Dr. Jack’s” in honor of the legendary coach and broadcaster, Dr. Jack Ramsay, opens prior to tonight’s game against the Lakers at the Moda Center.
Looking at the photos, it does have a Portland feel to it (also notice in the middle photo that the Portland skyline that used to be atop the jumbotron has been installed in the new space). Dr. Jack’s will be open only during the hours before and after events at the Moda Center, at least to start out. The restaurant, which is operated by Levy, the same group that runs all concession at the Rose Quarter, will feature a menu with “an array of unique culinary tastes in sandwiches, flatbreads, soups, salads, side dishes, desserts and other small-plate accompaniments.” There are also 18 (!!!) different beers on tap, wine and a full bar for those looking to imbibe before or after the game.
